Tulane (3-5) vs. USF (7-1) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Tulane isn’t necessarily out of it, but … it’s out of it in the West race. USF might have lost last week to Houston, but it doesn’t matter. Win out, take the American Athletic title.
But the Bulls have to be stronger defensively, and they have to be able to come up with a win this week with at Cincinnati, at Temple, and UCF to close.
The USF defensive front has been shockingly mediocre. It’s struggling way too much against the run – getting hit for 234 yards per came – and t’s not coming up with key stops. Especially against mobile quarterbacks. Houston’s D’Eriq King threw for 419 yards and five scores and ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win.
But does Tulane have a quarterback it can count on?
Jonathan Banks got pushed aside last week for LSU transfer Justin McMillan, but neither one has been able to do much of anything for the passing game.
The Green Wave running game hit Tulsa for 312 yards and three scores, and ran for 318 yards and four touchdowns against Memphis a few weeks ago. It’ll run well again, but it won’t be enough against a Bull team that will crank up the running game of its own.
USF bounces back.
