The Citadel (4-5) vs. Alabama (10-0) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
How much does Alabama care about making a point?
There’s absolutely no reason for the Crimson Tide to play any of its starters, especially Tua Tagovailoa with his iffy knee. But supposedly No. 13 is ready to go and isn’t limited, but with Auburn up next and Georgia to follow, keeping him in one piece is the only thing that matters.
But first, the defense has to handle the option.
In 2011, a juggernaut of an Alabama defense couldn’t deal with a Georgia Southern offense that cranked up over 300 yards on the ground – almost a third of the total rushing yards Bama gave up that year. The Tide won easily, but at least it was a battle.
The Citadel doesn’t have a prayer – there’s no passing attack with its style of O, and the secondary doesn’t exist – but the offense is amazing on the ground, averaging close to 300 yards per game. When the Bulldogs do try to throw, the big plays are there.
Alabama will get up 28-0 in the first quarter, pull Tagovailoa and everyone who matters, and coast the rest of the way. The Bulldog offense will be just quirky enough to work on one drive, Bama will do nothing but run, and the game will be over fast.
