10 Best ATS Picks So Far: 51-50-1

Okay … enough with going with the revenge picks (you’re dead to me, UConn) and doing this right after a rough and weird Week 9. Starting with a few that didn’t quite make the cut, but are still spicy …

Iowa +2.5 over Purdue
San Jose State +13.5 over Wyoming
Arizona State +7 over Utah

Click on each game for the game preview and fearless prediction.

10. Florida Atlantic at FIU

LINE: FIU -2.5, o/u: 59.5

This isn’t your last year’s Florida Atlantic team. The offense can’t get anything going – with just 20 points scored in the last two games – and losing four of the last five games with only a win over Old Dominion.

FIU is on a four-game winning streak with a defense that’s rolling, with the only losses this year to Miami and Indiana. It might be a rivalry battle, and FAU might be jacked up, but you’re looking for a home win. The 2.5 shouldn’t matter if you like the Golden Panthers.

9. Marshall at Southern Miss

LINE: Marshall -2.5, o/u: 47
ATS PICK: Marshall

Before last week, there was a big question about whether or not Southern Miss was any good, because it hadn’t beaten anyone who was any good. And then we found out …

Charlotte 20, Southern Miss 17.

The Golden Eagles are struggling to score – not putting up more than 17 points in three of the last four games – and the Marshall D stuffed Florida Atlantic in a 31-7 win.

And it’s rested. The Herd need this game, and they’ve had two weeks off to gear it up. If you like them, the 2.5 isn’t a thing.

8. Notre Dame at Northwestern

LINE: Notre Dame -10.5, o/u: 53.5
ATS PICK: Northwestern

Even if you love the Irish, this isn’t a Northwestern team that gets blown away.

It couldn’t get the O going against Duke in a 21-7 loss, but that was eons ago – it was the second game of the year. Six of the eight Wildcat games have been decided by fewer than 10.5 points, and other than the Blue Devil loss, the other was last week against Wisconsin last week by 14.

The Wildcats are great against great teams, and mediocre against bad ones. Notre Dame is a great team, and Northwestern could win this outright.

And there’s the travel after playing in San Diego last week, which also matters for …

7. Navy at Cincinnati

LINE: Cincinnati -14, o/u: 49.5
ATS PICK: Cincinnati

Of course, if the Navy offense is in gear and working, good luck. However, the Midshipmen are coming off a long road trip from San Diego with the loss to Notre Dame. And even though the offense really has been working, it hasn’t mattered because the defense is so porous.

Cincinnati has the best run D in the American Athletic Conference – and is 12th in the nation – and while the team has sputtered a bit over the last two weeks, Navy is on a five-game losing streak.

Trust in the Bearcat defense.

6. Memphis at East Carolina

LINE: Memphis -11.5, o/u: 64.5
ATS PICK: Memphis

The Tigers get their guy back. Star RB Darrell Henderson is expected to give it a go against an improved East Carolina defense that still allowed 316 rushing yards to UCF two weeks ago.

ECU is on a three-game losing streak, dropping all three by 22 or more. Memphis might be reeling – losing three of its last four – but it’s about to put 50 on the board.
