POINT TOTAL PICK: Over
The conditions are perfect.
It’s a Friday night game with a Syracuse team at home looking to make a statement in the College Football Playoff rankings. It’s not getting into the top four, of course, but it’s making a push for a New Year’s Six game.
How good has the offense been? It’s scored 30 or more in every game this year but one – the 27-23 loss to Clemson. Over the last three games, the Orange have been averaging 44 points per outing, and now their playing a team that’s checked out defensively.
How bad has this been for the Cardinals? Try this for the point totals allowed over the last four games. 77, 56, 38, 66.
No, Syracuse isn’t going to get 69 on its own, but it should take care of a big chunk of it.
The big key here will be the Louisville passing game. It’s going to have to fire away, and it’s going to have to keep up. The O has put up well over 300 yards through the air in three of the last five games, and it even threw for 231 against Clemson.
All you need is a little bit of Louisville pride. If it wants to show up on national TV, it has the ability to score in the mid-30s on this Syracuse D, but it might just take 24 or so to end up with the total.
Throw in the perfect dome conditions, and get ready for the track meet.
