Final Thoughts, Investment Advice: Big Ten

This is all just for spits, giggles, and entertainment purposes only. However, just in case you dabble …

Of course Nick Saban isn’t going to play Tua Tagovailoa more than just a few series against The Citadel. But to know how this rolls, and to know The Process is to understand that it’s all about keeping up and maintaining the intensity no matter what. With that said, if you’re crazy enough to go find that Bama -51 line somewhere, do not alter the belief system.

If someone offers you 51 points. No matter what, you take them. Speaking of which …

So here’s my personal thing … It’s sort of like bunting in baseball. Of course there are times when you do it – like, in the playoffs when your team isn’t hitting, it’s late in a tie game, and you have a man on second with no outs – but overall, the metrics tell you to not do it.

To me, over the long haul, if you’re ever given 40 points or more, you go with it. Teams can take their foot off the gas, the underdog could come up with just two scores, whatever. And that’s partly what the Georgia-UMass line went down from -44 to -41. Still … UMass plus the points. And …

Don’t think, just throw. Hold nose … grit teeth … Rice +42 against LSU, even though I hope you liked got in at 44.

And 39 is close enough. Look at last week. Michigan was a 39 point favorite over Rutgers, and it won 42-7. Again, it just doesn’t take that much for a college team to come up with an obscene blowout, and still not cover. That’s why I despise the idea of going with Idaho +39 against Florida, but that’s the call.

If you really think this is the week Kentucky decides to go crazy with the offense, go for it, but Middle Tennessee is good enough keep this to within 16.5. The Blue Raiders haven’t proven themselves against the better teams, but they’re solid, have a veteran quarterback in Brent Stockstill, and should battle. Didn’t like it at 14, likey at 16.5

Arkansas not be all that great, but it’s keeping games close. Mississippi State should be able to win without too much of a problem, but the Hogs are just feisty enough to pull within the 21.5, even against the nasty Bulldog D.

Ehhhhhhh, are you so sure that Tennessee hasn’t figured something out? Giving away six to Missouri seems like a wee bit much for a 5-5 Vol team that needs this to get bowl eligible. Remember, the five Tennessee losses – at South Carolina in a 27-24 fight. Florida, at Georgia, Alabama, West Virginia. They’re giving you six. Take it.

Just … just … stay away from UAB and Texas A&M. We’re not quite sure what this Blazer defense really is. It’s the first game this season against a Power Five team, and the Aggies should win, but just in case this turns into a defensive fight and UAB – who has held six teams to a touchdown or less – brings something interesting, you don’t want this at 16.5.

I know, I KNOW … I’m well aware I’ve gone all underdogs so far. I don’t like it either. This means the gods will mock me by crushing the favorites I’m going with …

It’s late in the season, and to be honest, I still don’t have a great handle on Ole Miss. I keep thinking it’s better than it is. Vanderbilt is at home, and it’s giving away points. I hate everything about picking the Commodores to ever win outright, but the team is fighting for bowl eligibility.

Liberty is feisty. It has enough of an offense to be annoying if Auburn is looking ahead to Alabama, but considering the loss to Georgia last week, and with the team and Gus Malzahn in need of something splashy, the 28.5 is manageable. The Flames just lost to Virginia by 21.

I want absolutely nothing to do with South Carolina and UT Chattanooga. The point total is officially listed at 80, which is totally insane. If that’s really true – and you can get this anywhere – under, under, under. USC only giving away 30.5 points means fire, fire, fire – get away from the rolling punt.
