Ole Miss (5-4) vs. Texas A&M (5-4) Game Preview
One Reason Why Ole Miss Will Win
Jordan Ta’amu continues to crank up the passing game.
The wins haven’t been there over the last few games, but the air show keeps on working for a 300-yard machine.
The LSU and Alabama games were disasters, but against everyone else, Ta’amu has been able to bomb away and keep the pressure on defenses. The Rebel D might not be doing enough, but this offense keeps on going.
How did Texas A&M lose to Auburn last week? Gus Malzahn seemed to finally figure out that Jarrett Stidham is an NFL-caliber passer who can throw a little bit, and he turned it loose to pull off the win. Now, A&M has allowed 220 yards or more in the last three games giving up eight touchdown passes.
Ta’amu is about to have a whole lot of fun with one side of the passing game, and …
One Reason Why Texas A&M Will Win
When you have a team that lives on time of possession and controlling the game, passing accuracy is everything.
Why have things sputtered over the last few games for the Aggies? Kellen Mond hasn’t been sharp, hitting just 50% of his passes in the losses.
Mond has been under the 60% passing mark four times this year – and Texas A&M lost all four games. The Aggies are 5-0 when he’s hitting 60% or more of his throws.
The Ole Miss pass defense can be picked apart, getting hit at a 63% clip on the season and allowing quarterbacks to convert 60% or more in six of the last eight games. Worse yet, the Rebel secondary just isn’t making enough plays, with just one pick over the last five games.
Mond will look and be solid again.

What’s Going To Happen
It’ll seem like Ole Miss will never have the ball.
A&M will control the clock for well over 35 minutes, and Ole Miss won’t be able to take advantage of all of its opportunities.
Ta’amu will get over 250 yards helped by a few home runs, but A&M will come up with enough third down stops to let Mond and the offense dominate the clock and the tempo.
