Ohio (5-3) vs. Western Michigan (6-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Just how much will it hurt Western Michigan to be without Jon Wassink?
Its solid starting quarterback suffered a foot injury in last week’s win over Toledo, and now he’s at least out for this week, and maybe the season.
Kaleb Eleby was brilliant in his debut, completing 23-of-28 passes for 293 yards and two scores – but the Broncos got their doors blown off by the Rockets.
The defensive front that’s been fine after a rocky start got ripped upped for 268 yards as Toledo came up with big dash after big dash. So far this year, WMU is 6-0 when giving up fewer than 200 rushing yards, and 0-3 when allowing more.
Ohio destroyed Bowling Green for 293 yards and three touchdowns on the ground two weeks ago, and then hit all State for 411 yards and six scores last week.
The Bronco defense can get behind the line, and it’s been fine for most of the year, but it’s about to be in big, big trouble.
Ohio’s secondary is a problem, but the offense does a great job of owning third downs to make up for a defense that can’t seem to get off the field.
The WMU passing game will work, the Ohio running game will work, and the team with the veteran quarterback will come up large.
