North Texas (7-2) vs. Old Dominion (2-7) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
The loss to UAB a few weeks ago might have made it all but impossible for North Texas to rise up and pull off the Conference USA West title, but it has to keep on pressing. At the very least, it has a chance to finish with a ten-win season.
The Mean Green offense still leads the league in yards and scoring with the high-powered passing game that Old Dominion doesn’t have the potential to keep it from going off.
The Monarchs aren’t getting enough big plays from the secondary and they’re a lock to get hit for at least 250 yards – more like 350 if Mean Green QB Mason Fine goes off on the league’s worst pass defense.
The bigger problem for ODU will be the mistakes it keeps on making. The turnovers are flowing, going a -9 over the last four games including five giveaways in the blowout loss to Middle Tennessee.
On the flip side, North Texas is dominant in turnover margin – leading the league with a +9 on the season.
The Monarchs will keep up the pace with a decent day from the passing game, but Fine has been too good. He’ll hit 300 yards again, and the guy who has failed to throw a pick in the last seven games will continue to be sharp.
