Norfolk State (4-6) vs. Liberty (5-6) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It’s been a nice first season in the FBS world for Liberty, coming up with a great win over Troy and getting to one win away from a sixth victory and a fantastic first step under head coach Turner Gill.
As a provisional FBS program it’s not eligible to go bowling, but avoiding a losing campaign would be good enough for now. That shouldn’t be a problem against a Norfolk State team on a run of five losses in six games.
The issue is an offense that’s not going anywhere, especially on the ground. The defense has enough talent in the secondary to keep the Flames from going off, but there are too many giveaways. QB Juwan Carter can move, but he also throws a few too many picks.
Liberty has found something in Frankie Hickson, coming off a 116-yard rushing day and just 68 yards away from a 1,000-yard season.
He’ll get there, Stephen Calvert will get over throwing two interceptions with three touchdown passes, and the Flame season will end with ease. For the second week in a row, the defense will help get the job done.
The running game will do the rest.
