Alcorn State (7-2) vs. New Mexico State (2-7) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
New Mexico State has lost three straight games and desperately needs something fun before closing out at BYU and at Liberty, but Alcorn State might not be a total pushover.
The Braves got hammered 41-0 by Georgia Tech in the opener, but they’ve won seven of their last eight games with a terrific defense, especially against the run.
And they’ve got the pass rush.
They lead the nation in sacks and tackles for loss, and they’re about to give the Aggies a hard time. New Mexico State can’t get the passing game going, and they’re struggling against anyone who can commit to the running game.
Alcorn State isn’t always explosive, but it’s running well – averaging 273 yards per game.
New Mexico State will pull this off with a big more of a passing game when it needs it in the fourth quarter – Josh Adkins hasn’t been sharp, but he’ll first with 300 yards – but it’s going to sweat it out as the Braves control the ground game and the clock throughout.
