Navy (2-6) vs. Cincinnati (7-1) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Cincinnati is really, really, really good at stopping the run.
This is a good defensive front that doesn’t do a whole bunch at getting into the backfield, and that’s because it doesn’t really need to. It’s a tough, disciplined bunch that tackles well. Ohio was able to run fro 234 yards, but no one else has hit the 150-yard mark.
Over the last two weeks, the Bearcats allowed just 103 rushing yards, and they’ve allowed just one touchdown run over the last four games.
Navy has to bust through all of that.
As always, the Midshipmen are running the ball well, but they’re not controlling games because the defense isn’t stopping anyone on third downs.
There’s no pressure into the backfield whatsoever, and the secondary is getting ripped up by everyone trying to throw a forward pass.
Cincinnati’s defense is amazing at coming up with third down stops, and Navy’s isn’t.
Bearcat QB Desmond Ridder is coming off his best performance of the year, throwing for 352 yards and two scores against SMU. He’ll have a big game, but the Bearcats will win on run defense, third down stops, and keeping the Navy O off the field.
