Louisiana (6-5) vs. ULM (6-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It’s for much more than just bragging rights in the rivalry.
So here’s the deal. ULM wins the West and goes off to play the Troy – Appalachian State winner for the Sun Belt title if it wins and Arkansas State loses to Texas State.
Louisiana takes the West if it wins – that’s all it has to do.
The Ragin’ Cajuns might have a shaky defense and an inconsistent O – losing to both Appalachian State and Troy – but when the offense is on, they win. 6-0 this season when scoring more than 28 points, they have a terrific ground game, they don’t turn the ball over enough to be an issue, and the passing attack is strong enough to balance things out.
And the ULM defense allowed 32 points per game.
The Warhawks have a killer pass rush and are great at getting into the backfield, but the team is all about the production of Caleb Evans.
When he’s hot, he can take over a game with his all-around playmaking ability. When he throws for 300 yards, ULM is 3-0, doing that twice in the last three weeks.
The deep plays are happening and he’s got the upside to light up a Ragin’ Cajun secondary that’s hit-or-miss. But it’s mostly a hit.
As good as Evans and ULM might be, Louisiana will get the offense going by owning third downs and getting enough out of the ground game to keep Evans off the field.
It’ll be a four quarter thriller with the Ragin’ Cajuns coming up with the big drives needed to pull this off and go off to play for the Sun Belt title.
