What’s Going To Happen
With a date at Ohio still to deal with, Buffalo needs to keep on pressing to stay ahead in the East race. However, if it wins and Ohio loses to Miami University, the Bulls are the division champs and off to the MAC Championship.
On a roll, they ripped through the RedHawks last week in a shootout for a fourth straight win. The offense is humming – overcoming a shaky defense – and it should be able to fire at will at one of the nation’s worst defenses.
The one thing the Golden Flash defense can do is rush the passer. It has to get to Tyree Jackson and make him force passes from the start, and it has to hold up against the big plays.
And its own offensive line has to be able to hold up.
UB is great at getting behind the line, and the D is a whole lot better than it showed against MU last week.
It’s not just the East now for the Bulls, and it’s not just for the MAC title. Win out, and throw the hat in the ring for the New Year’s Six bowl slot from the Group of Five teams.
Baby steps.
First, the Buffalo offensive balance will kick in, Jackson will own third down chances, and then it’ll be time to get out the Miami pom-poms.
Kent State will keep this from getting out of hand, but it won’t be able to keep up.
