What’s Going To Happen
Idaho is dealing with life in the FCS world as a member of the Big Sky Conference, and it’s been a wee bit of a rough run.
The Vandals started out the year getting ripped up by Fresno State 79-13, and since then they haven’t been able to get the season going thanks to a mediocre pass defense and way, way too many problems taking the ball away.
The D just can’t help out the O with enough big breaks.
Florida is playing for fun now.
The Gators got their big win with a fantastic comeback to get by South Carolina last week, and now they’re shooting for a ten-win season with Florida State up next and the bowl game to follow.
The win over the Gamecocks was fun, but this is the week the O needs to go off.
The much-maligned Feleipe Franks needs to lead the way for a few early scores, and then use the rest of the game as target practice.
Idaho doesn’t have enough of a pass rush to bother Franks or anyone in the Gator backfield, and there’s no fear of the Vandal defense coming up with any big takeaways.
Florida will be a +3 in turnover margin, and the offensive line will give everyone a whole lot of time to work.
Even if the Gators are a wee bit sluggish early, there won’t be any drama. QB Mason Petrino – son of head coach Paul Petrino – has been solid over the last few games with nine touchdown passes in his last four outings – but he and the Vandal offense won’t be able to come back after getting down early.
