Georgia Southern (7-3) vs. Coastal Carolina (5-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Just when it seemed like Georgia Southern had the Sun Belt by the horns, it all fell apart.
The defense couldn’t stop Caleb Evans and ULM, and Troy came in and took over the East with a dominant 35-21 performance last week. Already bowl eligible, now the Eagles are looking to cement a spot.
Coastal Carolina is just trying to get that sixth win so it can be in the bowl mix, too.
The Chanticleers have lost their last two games – both at home – struggling through a power outage at the wrong time. Lose this, and they’ll need to beat South Alabama next week to avoid a collapse and a losing season.
Can Coastal Carolina stop the run? Nope.
The team can hit, and there’s no lack of effort, but it has problems with everyone who commits to the ground game. Only UMass failed to run for two or more touchdowns, as CCU has allowed 230 yards or more seven times.
This will be the first time it gives up 300.
The Eagle attack that hit a brick wall over the last two weeks will find its groove again, with the option finally starting to get the playmakers in space. It’ll be more of a steady stream than a ton of big explosions, but it’ll be enough to control the game and get by on the road.
