East Carolina (2-6) vs. Tulane (4-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
All of a sudden, Tulane is back in the hunt for a bowl game after coming up with big wins over Tulsa and USF on the road. Win this, and then it’ll take one more win to finish strong and get a swag bag with at Houston and Navy to close things out.
After losing four straight, East Carolina has to win out, but that’s not happening with road games at Cincinnati and at NC State to close, but there’s a layup against UConn next week.
How is Tulane getting it done? The running game is starting to rumble like it’s supposed to under Willie Fritz, coming up with 312 yards against Tulsa and 365 yards and five scores against USF. The Green Wave are 3-0 this year when coming up with 300 yards on the ground.
East Carolina’s run defense hasn’t been all that bad over the course of the season, but it got ripped up over the last two weeks allowing well over five yards per carry with 593 yards. Now it’s about to be destroyed by RB Darius Bradwell and a rolling Tulane offense that’s not going to slow down now.
However, watch out for the Pirates to make this fight thanks to freshman QB Holton Ahlers. He has bombed away for over 400 yards in each of the last two weeks, and while he won’t hit that again, he’ll do just enough. Tulane will run, ECU will throw, and it’s going to be entertaining.
