College Football Free Predictions, Previews from Winners & Whiners: Championship Week

College football’s regular season ends continues with Championship Week. Last week, the big winner was Ohio State, who thrashed Michigan. They will face Northwestern for the Big Ten title. We’re going to take a look at two big games on Saturday, anchored by No. 4 Georgia facing No. 1 Alabama in the SEC Championship and No. 5 Oklahoma taking on No.9 Texas for the Big 12 title.

(note:Some of these picks were made by our Editor and are subject to change)

*Alabama will face Georgia from Atlanta, which certainly should give the Bulldogs a slight advantage. Alabama is a lock for the college football playoff, but a loss for Georgia might mean a team like Ohio State or Oklahoma sneaks in.The Bulldogs have one loss and they were crushed, 36-16 by LSU on Oct. 13. They crushed rival Georgia Tech last week, 45-21 to end the regular season.

Jake Fromm threw four touchdown passes to lead the way. Alabama had no problem with Auburn, blowing them out 52-21 after struggling with The Citadel in the previous week (at least in the first half). Tua Tagovailoa threw five TD passes, while the Crimson Tide’s defense held the Tigers to just 283 yards. Georgia needs this one desperately and they’ll cover the big number in their home state.

*The Red River Showdown II continues after Texas won the first meeting over Oklahoma on Oct. 6, 48-45. That was the lone loss for the Sooners this season, who ran off six straight since that defeat. They edged West Virginia, 59-56 in a wild win from Morgantown last Friday. The Sooners allowed a ridiculous 704 yards and still won the game thanks to 182 yards rushing from Kennedy Brooks and 478 total yards from QB Kyler Murray.

Texas opened the season with a loss to Maryland and that has kept them from being considered in the CFP. The loss at Oklahoma State by three on Oct. 27 hasn’t helped either. But the Longhorns have put together a three-game winning streak to find their way to the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma’s defense isn’t worth laying a touchdown or more so go with Texas.
