Bowl Bubble Teams: The Teams Still Alive For A Bowl Game

Ole Miss (5-5)

The Rebels aren’t eligible to go bowling because the football program was naughty, but NCAA sanctions aside, getting to six wins would be a massive accomplishment considering all of the drama.

Losers of three straight, they’ll beat Vanderbilt on the road, and then take down the bowl they really care about, beating Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl for the second year in a row.
– Florida 35, South Carolina 31

South Carolina (5-4)

Considering the dream was getting to the SEC Championship, having to scratch and claw for bowl eligibility this late in the season isn’t okay. But they’ll get there with a win over UT Chattanooga this week.

The real fun is the following week, getting a shot at screwing up Clemson. It all closes with Akron, a makeup date after missing the earlier season game against Marshall thanks to Hurricane Florence.
– Florida 35, South Carolina 31

Tennessee (5-5)

The shocking win over Kentucky opens up the bowl dream in Jeremy Pruitt’s first season. The Vols get Missouri at home and close out at Vanderbilt. They’ll win at least one of the two to get bowling – a fantastic accomplishment in the rebuild.
Tennessee 24, Kentucky 7

Vanderbilt (4-6)

The close loss to Missouri was a killer as part of a run of four losses in five weeks. Now the Commodores have two straight home games to try getting to a bowl, dealing with Ole Miss and Tennessee. They’ll lose both.
– Missouri 33, Vanderbilt 28

Sun Belt

Coastal Carolina (5-5)

Just when it seemed like the Chanticleers were going to pull it off and get to six wins, they lost two straight. They’ll lose a third straight home game, but after dropping the Georgia Southern game against the killer running game, they’ll win at South Alabama to get eligible in the program’s second season in the FBS world.

Louisiana (5-5)

The Ragin’ Cajuns will get bowl eligible, but the concern will be slots. The Sun Belt will have more teams for bowls. They’ll beat South Alabama to get bowl eligible, but it might take a win over rival ULM on the road to get a 13th game.
