Bowl Bubble Teams: The Teams Still Alive For A Bowl Game

Big 12

Baylor (5-5)

After a disastrous first season, head coach Matt Rhule is a game away from a big turnaround to get bowling. The Bears get TCU up next, and then a neutral site game against Texas Tech in AT&T Stadium. They’ll win one of the two.
– Iowa State 28, Baylor 14

Kansas State (4-6)

It’s been a rough run, and it’s going to close out with a clunk. The team that should’ve been good enough to go bowling with ease will lose to both Texas Tech and at Iowa State to close.
– Kansas State 21, Kansas 17

Oklahoma State (5-5)

For all of the fun things the Cowboys have done, they’re not a lock to even go bowling. The have to deal with West Virginia this week in a shootout, and then close out at TCU, who’s bad, but will be dangerous in the finale. OSU will get that sixth win.
– Oklahoma 48, Oklahoma State 47

TCU (4-6)

The team that played for the Big 12 title last year has lost four of its last five games, and it’ll lose at Baylor this week for a losing season, and then in the season finale against Oklahoma State.
– West Virginia 47, TCU 10

Texas Tech (5-5)

The Red Raiders have been waiting on that sixth win for weeks, losing three straight with all of them tough losses. They’ll get the job done at Kansas State, and if they don’t, there’s a problem having to go against Baylor in the neutral site date in Arlington.
– Texas 41, Texas Tech 34

Big Ten

Illinois (4-6)

The win over Minnesota a few weeks ago kept the distant dream alive. If the running game works, the home finale against Iowa is gettable, and then comes the date at Northwestern against a Wildcat team with bigger fish to fry a week later in the Big Ten title game. Illinois won’t win both.
– Nebraska 54, Illinois 35

Indiana (5-5)

The Hoosiers might have saved their season with the win over Maryland, stopping a four-game losing streak. Now they get to go to Michigan, meaning  the battle for the Old Oaken Bucket against Purdue to go bowling.
– Indiana 34, Maryland 32

Maryland (5-5)

The Terps have been close, but they’ve lost three of their last four games. Now they have to either shock Ohio State this week, or take down Penn State in Happy Valley to close. Neither one will happen.
– Indiana 34, Maryland 32

Minnesota (5-5)

With the blowout win over Purdue, Minnesota got past the blowout loss to Illinois to get back into the bowl chase. Unfortunately, the Gophers have to face Northwestern at home this week before closing out at Wisconsin. They’ll drop both games.
– Minnesota 41, Purdue 10

Purdue (5-5)

For all of the fun against Ohio State several weeks ago, and even with the win over Iowa, the 41-10 clunker against Minnesota might have cost the Boilermakers a bowl game if they can’t get a win against Wisconsin this week or against Indiana on the road to close. They’ll get the Badgers and get to six.
– Minnesota 41, Purdue 10
