BYU (4-4) vs. Boise State (6-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
BYU has to be able to show it can score again, and Boise State has to keep the offense rolling.
This doesn’t mean anything for the Broncos. In fact, with Fresno State and Utah State coming up, it would be smarter and better to rest up the key parts as much as possible to be ready for the games that matter.
But for BYU, it needs to do something right.
It’s lost three of its last four games, and with Utah still to play, the pressure will be on to beat both UMass and New Mexico State – it will – if it can’t get out of Boise with a win.
The Cougars were stuffed by Northern Illinois last week in a 7-6 loss, and now it has to find a way to get the offense going against a team that’s cranking it up at the right time.
Boise State is phenomenal on third down conversions, the passing game has been great, and the offense is rolling. Brett Rypien has thrown for 299 yards or more against everyone but San Diego State – he just threw for 399 yards and five scores against Air Force – but the Cougars are good in the secondary.
The Broncos are going to get up with a few early scores and coast. There won’t be enough Cougar pressure into the backfield, but the defense is good enough to keep this from being a total wipeout.
The BYU O just won’t be able to do enough to keep up.
