Akron (4-4) vs. Eastern Michigan (5-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Eastern Michigan is going to get bowl eligible. It’s not going to lose to Kent State next week, but it’s not going to want to take that chance on the road, and it’s going to help if it wins the last two to all but assure itself of a spot somewhere.
Akron needs to win two of its last four, but three of them are on the road, and one of them is at South Carolina in December – a fill-in game for both teams to make up for missing a date earlier because of the hurricane.
EMU isn’t moving the chains all that well, and it doesn’t have a running game, but the passing game is efficient and it’s not turning the ball over.
Known for playing tight games, it finally came up with a few blowouts with easy wins over Ball State and Central Michigan, but Akron has the pass defense to keep this close.
The Zips aren’t going to have problems with the EMU ground game – it’s not good enough – and they have enough of a pass rush to bother the Tyler Wiegers and the passing game. The problem, though, is an Akron offense that doesn’t move well enough.
EMU is going to struggle and sputter a bit, but it’ll be a +2 in turnover margin and the Akron offense isn’t going to go anywhere.
