Air Force (3-5) vs. Army (6-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
If you like running the football, here you go.
Army is on a roll with four straight wins, bowl eligibility already secured, and with the machine cranking out the nation’s second-best running game behind Georgia Tech.
Air Force is averaging 255 rushing yards per game and needs to keep on winning to get in range of a bowl, having to come up with victories in three of the last four games.
Which team can stop the run better?
Air Force is terrific. It’s allowed over 140 yards just once – giving up 177 yards to Nevada – stuffing the Navy option attack to just 129 yards in the 35-7 win.
Army is even better.
The Knights have yet to give up 200 yards on the year, and have allowed fewer than 80 in four of the last six games.
Both teams do the same things well, but Army is much stronger on third downs, and its defense is much better at getting off the field faster. In a game that will be all about who controls the clock and field position, the Knights will do a better job.
