Based from the smallest point spread to the biggest, these are the five most dangerous games this week for the favorites. It might not necessarily turn out to be an outright upset in each game – most of the official picks here are against the spread – but out of these six, expect a few shockers.
The goal here isn’t to necessarily find the ones who are going to win, but if that happens, so be it. The hope is to find the needle in the haystack.

LINE: Michigan State -1, o/u: 47.5
Call this a feel pick.
Michigan State is having a nearly-historic season with its run defense, but Nebraska is finding ways to make big things happen on the ground lately. It’s all starting to work, tearing off 231 yards or more in four of the last five games.
Adrian Martinez is growing into the starting quarterback job, the defense is coming up with just enough decent second half stops to get by, and now, the team that started the year 0-6 has won three of its last four.
And that’s coming off the overtime collapse at Northwestern that was this close to being a breakthrough moment.
Michigan State is playing well, its games are close, and again, the run D has been magnificent.
In the final home game of the year, this just feels like a big moment for Nebraska. Especially as an underdog.
LINE: Southern Miss -1.5, o/u: 46
Okay, okay … Louisiana Tech has been doing some bum slaying.
Beating UTSA, UTEP, and Rice just isn’t a big deal, but taking down Florida Atlantic 21-13 on the road as part of a run of four wins in five weeks was impressive.
The Bulldogs might not be winging the ball around the yard, but they’re playing decent defense and they’re not bad away from Ruston. They were able to keep North Texas in check in a big win, and they’re 4-2 on the road with the only losses to LSU and Mississippi State.
The Southern Miss offense is fine, but it won’t get the job done despite giving UAB problems two weeks ago in a tight loss. Yeah, USM is 4-1 at home, but Louisiana Tech is the best team it has played yet in Hattiesburg.
