5. Rapid-Fire First Reaction To Latest College Football Playoff Rankings

Finally, CFP committee … You figured out that Missouri needed to be in the top 25. But there’s still way, way, way, WAY too much love for Florida at No. 9 considering got destroyed at home by Mizzou a few weeks ago. 24th is too low for the Tigers.

Sort of missing the attraction to Penn State in the top 12. It’s fine, but being a spot ahead of No. 13 Washington State might matter in the New Year’s Six bowl discussion.

Michigan didn’t really suffer for losing big. It fell to No. 7, but it’s still ahead of UCF. LSU needed to be put behind Florida, but it didn’t get punished all that much by being No. 10 for losing to now-No. 19 Texas A&M.

Pitt isn’t ranked. Memphis isn’t ranked. Northwestern is No. 21. Only seven of the top 16 and eight of the top 20 teams are playing in a conference championship.

Last year? Seven of the top eight teams – and ten of the top 12 – were off to conference championships. In other words, when it comes to most of this year’s conference championship matchups … zzzzzzzzzzz.
