WKU (1-4) vs. Charlotte (2-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
WKU keeps on fighting the good fight, but this dog just won’t hunt.
It’s become the master of the close loss, dropping three of its last four by three points in each game. The passing game hasn’t picked it back up after being so strong over the last few seasons, and points have been hard to come by.
Charlotte is struggling to find its place win the world after two rough road losses, but it finally get a home date against – it’s 2-1 at McColl-Richardson so far.
The offensive line is having issues for a running game that’s barely there, and the defensive front isn’t disruptive enough in the backfield, but the 49ers are great against the run, and they’re masters at playing stall ball – they dominate the time of possession battle.
Unlike past seasons WKU actually has a bit of a ground game, but not enough of one to do anything against the Charlotte run D. It’ll have to throw consistently well to win, and that’s going to be an issue.
Neither team is able to do much of anything in the clutch, and points are going to be at a premium. Charlotte won’t give the ball away, and it’ll own the clock just enough to survive in a close battle that will come down to field goals.
WKU’s Ryan Nuss has hit just three of his six field goal attempts so far, and Charlotte freshman Jonathan Cruz has missed just one of his nine tries.
