UNLV (2-3) vs. Utah State (4-1) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It might be do-or-die time for UNLV.
A promising season face-planted after losing star QB Armani Rogers, and then losing at home to New Mexico 50-14. The offense hasn’t done enough, and the defense wasn’t even close to handling the Lobo offense that turned out to be fantastically balanced.
On the flip side is a Utah State team that’s feeling it, with four straight games with 42 points or more – all wins – including a dominant performance over BYU last week to help take the great season to another level.
UNLV still has a strong running game, but the the passing attack is the worst in the Mountain West and among the least efficient in the nation. It’s not about to get healthy against a Utah State defense that’s great at getting into the backfield, and with an offense that might push the pace a bit too far, too fast.
Aggie QB Jordan Love will come up with another sharp game, freshman running back Darwin Thompson will come close to hitting his third 100-yard game in four dates, and Utah State will keep it all going as it starts to look and play more and more like one of the three best teams in the Mountain West.
