UNLV (2-5) vs. San Jose State (0-7) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Is this it? Is this when San Jose State finally gets a win this season?
The Spartans haven’t been awful, losing to San Diego State and Hawaii by three points and getting the offense going a bit, but the defense just can’t quite get the job done.
The run D had a decent game against San Diego State, but it wasn’t nearly enough. Overall, though, the Spartans haven’t been bad against decent ground games, only getting rocked by Army and its devastating attack.
SJSU’s problem is the pass defense, and with turnovers. UNLV isn’t great when it comes to the turnover battle, but it’s the one improvement with Max Gilliam under center instead of the banged up Armani Rogers – the passing game is stronger.
UNLV has lost four straight, but Gilliam has thrown for over 250 yards with three touchdowns in each of the last two games. The Rebels are overdue for a big performance, too – their only wins have come against UTEP and Prairie View A&M.
But this is San Jose State’s day.
The Spartans don’t have a running game, but at home, the passing attack will start to work, and the offense will click just enough to finally get the right break at the right time late.
You’re not going to go out of your way to watch this, but it’ll be one of the day’s more entertaining games.
