ULM (2-4) vs. Coastal Carolina (3-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
For all intents and purposes, the loser is out of the Sun Belt title chase – and maybe a bowl game – and the winner is still alive and kicking.
ULM has been a massive disappointment since starting out 2-0. The defense has been a rumor, and the offense that was supposed to blow up has yet to come up with more than 27 points against an FBS team.
Coastal Carolina had its chance to make a statement in the Sun Belt chase two weeks ago, but the loss to Troy might have been a killer. The team finally gets an oasis among all of the road games – it played three straight on the road, gets this, and goes back on the road for two games – and it has to take advantage of the bad Warhawk defense go get to 4-2 and within reasonable range of bowl eligibility.
Can QB Kilton Anderson get back from a high ankle sprain to rip apart the awful ULM secondary? If not freshman Bryce Carpenter will do it. He hit 18-of-22 passes in the loss to Troy, but the defense couldn’t hold serve.
The Warhawks should run amok.
The offense hasn’t gone off yet, but QB Caleb Evans and RB Derrick Gore need to lead a ground game that should hit close to 200 yards. But will that be enough?
The Chanticleers will get just enough defensive stops in the second half to hold on, thanks to an offense that will control the clock and the game throughout against a ULM team at the end of a run of five road games in six weeks. Get ready for a fun shootout.
