UConn (1-5) vs. USF (6-0) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
If for no other reason than to see what it looks like when an offense puts up a bajillion points, this should be interesting.
USF isn’t that great a 6-0 team, but it’s still 6-0 and it’s finding ways to win. The offense isn’t exploding like it should, failing to come up with more than 25 points in three of the last four games.
The running game is good, and the offense is 15th in the nation in total yards, but it hasn’t been easy putting the biscuit in the basket.
That’s where the UConn defense comes in.
The Huskies are historically miserable. Over the last ten years, no defense has finished a season allowing more than 47 points per outing. At the moment, UMass is allowing 45 points per game. Oregon State is giving up 47 points per outing, and Bowling Green is giving up 47.6 points per game. Those are three of the worst scoring defenses in the country. UConn?
53.7 points per game, giving up 49 or more to everyone so far, including Rhode Island, Cincinnati and Memphis.
The run defense is a disaster, the turnovers are giving opposing offenses too many easy opportunities, and the offense isn’t picking up the slack by going on long scoring drives to give everyone a break.
USF will take advantage with its best offensive day of the season as it breaks out of its scoring funk.
