Tulane (2-5) vs. Tulsa (1-6) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It’s been so, so frustrating for both teams.
They haven’t been miserable, and they’ve shown hope and potential, but they’re just not good at winning.
Tulane is still alive in the West race, but it still has to go on the road to face Houston and USF on the road. Lose this, and that’s effectively it for the season – the Green Wave won’t run the table to go bowling.
The offensive line allows way too many plays behind the line, the defense doesn’t come up with enough key stops against the good passing teams, and there isn’t anything to count on weekly. The ground game is supposed to be solid, and the offense is supposed to control games, and it doesn’t.
Tulsa has lost six straight, but the defense has been good enough to potentially win, and the now the offense has to do something, anything to keep up.
The Golden Hurricane are supposed to be able to bomb away under this coaching staff, and instead, it has one of the nation’s least-efficient passing games. They’re running well, but that’s just not enough considering there are too many issues holding on to the ball – Tulsa has fumbled it away ten times.
Is this finally when the Green Wave running game gets going? It’s built to crank up big yards, and the Tulsa defense is giving up well over 200 yards per game on the ground against the FBS teams on the slate.
Even so, Tulsa’s defense is going to keep this tight throughout. Unfortunately, the passing game won’t be able to do enough against the Green Wave secondary.
Another game, another tough loss for Tulsa thanks to a -2 turnover margin.
