Texas A&M (4-2) vs. South Carolina (3-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why Texas A&M Will Win
It’s awfully nice for Texas A&M when it doesn’t have to face Alabama or Clemson.
It might have needed a whole lot of work to hand Kentucky its first loss of the season, but it did it. And now, it’s starting to play and appear to be one of the four best teams in the SEC.
How did the Aggies do it? They slowed down Benny Snell and the Cats’ ground game, allowing just 70 yards with a great day from the line. Amazing at getting behind the line, DE Kinglsey Keke, LB Otaro Alaka and company have come up with 42 tackles for loss so far, and they all dominated the UK offensive front.
A&M stuffed Alabama for just 109 yards on the ground, and stopped Clemson for 115. South Carolina might be getting back Jake Bentley at quarterback, but he’s going to have to carry the offense – there won’t be any Gamecock ground game.
One Reason Why South Carolina Will Win
The Texas A&M defensive line might be amazing, but the offensive line is more than happy to give up sacks, allowing 21 so far.
QB Kellen Mond has been excellent so far as he grows into the star of the A&M offense more and more, but he can be pressured into mistakes.
A&M has an issue so far with turnovers – Mond has thrown five picks over the last three games – and so far, USC has allowed just three touchdown passes. That might not seem like a big deal, it shut out Missouri’s Drew Lock and kept Georgia’s quarterbacks to just one score.
USC might have issues in the time of possession battle, but the D is amazing on third downs – it’s not going to allow Mond and the A&M passing attack to take over.

What’s Going To Happen
A&M has the right fit to go into South Carolina and pull off a tough win.
The Aggies lead the SEC in third down conversions and time of possession, the pass rush is good enough to screw up the Gamecock backfield, and the best-in-the-nation punting game should help them own the field position battle.
South Carolina might not always be amazing, but it has ways of slugging out close wins. This week, it won’t be able to do enough against this D, even though Bentley will come up with a good day.
