Texas A&M (5-3) vs. Auburn (5-3) Game Preview

Free daily ATS lock pick just released: ‘100% confidence release!’

One Reason Why Texas A&M Will Win

The Aggies are going to control the clock all game long.

The offense might have struggled against Mississippi State, and the machine has to gear it back up again, but the Aggies should have the ball for close to 40 minutes if everything goes according to plan.

Auburn doesn’t exactly go at warp speed like it did when the offense was crushing and killing under Gus Malzahn, but it likes to operate at a decent pace.

And it’s just inept enough at times to not keep the chains moving.

Auburn is among the worst teams in the country in time of possession, and Texas A&M is second in the nation, keeping the ball for over 36 minutes.

It might be just this simple: at bats. Auburn might not have the ball enough.

The Auburn O is bad on third downs, and the Texas A&M D and it’s pass rushers is amazing at coming up with third down stops.

One Reason Why Auburn Will Win

Nick Fitzgerald.

The Texas A&M defense might have a pass rush, and it might be great on third downs, but it’s also lousy overall against guys who can throw a forward pass.

Arkansas and Kentucky are the only teams to not hit the 200-yard mark, and last week, the Aggie secondary made Mississippi State’s Fitzgerald look like Aaron Rodgers, giving up 241 yards through the air, two scores, and way too many big plays.

Jarrett Stidham might have been a wee bit of a disappointment so far this season, but he’s on a roll over the last month, throwing for 214 yards or more in each of the last four games. Two weeks ago against Ole Miss, he came up with enough downfield plays to keep things moving.

What’s Going To Happen

The Auburn pass rush is about to kick in at home.

The offense might not be quite what everyone has wanted, but the defense will make up for with a big performance from the defensive front.

The Tigers will win the turnover battle in a relatively low scoring game with a good performance from Stidham pulling them ahead late.
