Ten Best Predictions Against The Spread: Week 8

1. Maryland at Iowa

LINE: Iowa -9, o/u: 44

Ride this wave of hot Iowa football until it stops.

Hawkeye QB Nate Stanley has been on fire over the last four games – including the loss to Wisconsin – with three 300-yard performances over the span, and best of all, averaging over ten yards per throw in three of the games.

On the road, the Hawkeyes opened it up against Minnesota for 48 points, and hit Indiana for 42. Meanwhile, Maryland is okay at slowing down the pass, but mostly because it hasn’t faced a whole lot of teams that can throw.

The Terps, however, are not good at the whole throwing the football thing, ranking dead last among Big Ten teams averaging just 121 yards per game. If they don’t run well, they don’t win.

Wisconsin ran for 210 yards against Iowa, and in the opener, Northern Illinois ran for 101 yards. No one else has hit the 90 yard mark against a brick wall of a Hawkeye defensive front.

Big plays from the offense, and a defense that can stop the one thing the opponent can do well. All five Iowa wins this season have been by double digits, and at home, here comes No. 6.

It’s going to be really, really windy, though. Maryland won’t be able to throw at all, and Iowa will be able to throw just enough. Now that the line is moving down, you liked it at ten, and you’ll love it more at nine.
