POINT TOTAL PICK: Under
Lost in the wild and fun 48-48 shootout in the Red River Showdown last week was that Texas kept piling on points because it absolutely had to. For the most part this year, this offense hasn’t been big at putting up big numbers, mainly because it doesn’t take a whole lot of chances.
You can do that when your defense isn’t allowing much of anything.
The Longhorn defense didn’t allow more than 16 points in any game against TCU, USC and Kansas State, and even the 21 given up against Tulsa resulted in a 28-21 win. So far, four of the six Texas games have failed to hit 60 points.
Baylor’s offense has been solid so far – scoring 26 points or more in every game – and the defense has been a bit leaky. And that’s the concern.
Five of the six Bear games have gone well past 60 points. But this week, you’re hoping for Texas to be around the 30s, Baylor to be held to around 20, and the under to be fine.
