SMU (2-4) vs. Tulane (2-4) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
The two teams aren’t that bad for 2-4, but the loser is reasonably done when it comes to any bowl hopes, while the winner should be on track to getting to six wins.
Tulane’s offensive line hasn’t been anything great at keeping teams out of the backfield, but the passing game hits on the big plays when it gets its chances and it doesn’t screw up. It just doesn’t complete enough throws.
The Green Wave is supposed to be great on the ground, and it’s just not. Fortunately, for them, the SMU defense can’t stop the run.
The Mustangs are trying to wing it around the yard, but the O isn’t efficient enough and it’s not doing anything to move the chains. The Tulane secondary has been okay, but it should give up at least 250 yards if SMU can finally get a more consistency out of the quarterbacks.
At home, the running game that’s been so hit-or-miss should go off. Yeah, there’s a problem this year getting the ground attack going against Ohio State and Cincinnati, but the SMU defensive front is a different animal.
The Tulane ground game will be far better and more effective than the SMU passing attack.
