Rice (1-7) vs. North Texas (6-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Okay, North Texas, time to turn it on for real.
The Mean Green are in big trouble in the Conference USA race after losing to UAB and with a loss on Louisiana Tech on the books, but they should be able to rip through the final four games without a problem.
But it needs the offense to show up again.
Fortunately for UNT, the Rice offense doesn’t do enough to put up big numbers to get back in the game if Mason Fine and the boys get out early.
The power running game the Owls try to use should be fine in a few years under head coach Mike Bloomgren, but it’s not there now.
The pas defense isn’t working, and there’s no offensive pop. Other than that, everything is going great.
The UNT passing game is tops in the league averaging 325 yards per game, but it’s having a hard time putting the biscuit in the basket – the points aren’t coming in key moments like they were early in the year.
Even so, at home, there won’t be a problem. The Mean Green run defense will be good enough against an Owl attack that’s scored 20 points in the last three games, and the O will take care of the rest.
