Ole Miss (3-2) vs. ULM (2-3) Game Preview
One Reason Why ULM Will Win
There’s just enough offense to think it might be able to keep up.
It hasn’t been awful, but QB Caleb Evans has been inconsistent for a supposedly high-powered attack that stalled against Georgia State last week in a 45-14 loss. Against the SEC’s worst pass defense – the Rebels are giving up 310 yards per game – Evans should be able to come up with at least 200 yards without much of a problem.
On the other side, ULM can get behind the line against an Ole Miss O line that’s okay, but not a brick wall. The Warhawks should be able to generate consistent pressure and should be able to come up with at least two sacks.
One Reason Why Ole Miss Will Win
Fire at will.
The ULM defense has been a rumor this season, especially against anyone who can throw a forward pass. Georgia State didn’t hit the 200-yard mark last week, but Dan Ellington connected on 15-of-18 throws. Everyone else so far has hit the Warhawks for 249 yards or more through the air.
It was a rough one against LSU last week – with Jordan Ta’amu throwing for just 178 yards – and he didn’t do anything against Alabama. But against everyone else, it’s been bombs away.
Expect at least 300 yards, and maybe 400 if the ULM offense can do anything positive early on. The Rebel receivers will go off with home run after home run.
What’s Going To Happen
Expect a shootout with a whole lot of big plays and a whole lot of big moments on both sides.
Neither defense will do much early on, but the Rebel attack will keep on rolling for a full four quarters, while ULM’s will stall out a bit too often when it needs to keep up.
