What’s Going To Happen

Ohio is kicking off MAC play after an interesting start to the season with a whole lot of offense, not a whole lot of defense, and a whole slew of question marks.

A lot of those should be answered by playing Kent State.

The Golden Flashes have lost three straight with no defense and the FlashFast offense not quite flashy or fast enough. It’s a more interesting team under new head coach Sean Lewis, and it’s improving, but it could use a win over an FBS team.

Kent State’s biggest problem is an offensive line that allows more sack and tackles for loss in college football. Meanwhile, the defense is one of the worst in America and it’s dead last in the MAC. Throw in all the penalties – averaging a nation-worst 10.8 per game – and there’s a whole lot not to like.

Ohio doesn’t play any defense on third downs – its the worst in the nation on the big plays, allowing teams to convert 56% of the time – and it also has the nation’s worst pass defense.

So … who wants to have some offensive fun?

The Bobcats running game will go off for close to 300 yards, Kent State will move the ball quickly and effectively through the air, and it’ll be an interesting shootout with Ohio pulling away late.
