New Mexico State (2-6) vs. Texas State (1-6) Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

Is this finally the moment when Texas State breaks through and beats an FBS program?

The Bobcats haven’t been all that bad over the last few weeks, losing three of its last four games by six points or fewer. But there isn’t enough offense, the defense hasn’t been quite enough to overcome the issues on the other side, and the team just doesn’t seem to know how to win.

Offense isn’t an issue for New Mexico State, but the defensive side it a total disaster.

Texas State has enough of a pass defense to keep the Aggie offense down, and it’s not a bad D at taking the ball away. Now it needs to come up with a few key takeaways to help out the O.

New Mexico State has a pass rush – the defensive line can get into the backfield – but it’s not enough. There’s nothing happening with the tun D, and the team doesn’t hang on to the ball – NMSU is miserable in the time of possession battle.

There’s a chance the Aggies get up by two scores early and that’s it, but in San Marcos, this is the when TXST finally has its moment.

The offense will have the ball for well over 35 minutes, the running game will rumble against an Aggie defense that’s allowed 733  rushing yards and nine touchdowns over the last two games, and while it might not be pretty, it’ll be a win.
