New Mexico State (2-4) vs. Louisiana (2-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
New Mexico State will want to try keeping it all going after beating UTEP and getting by Liberty for a two-game winning streak after an 0-4 start.
The passing game started to work with freshman Josh Adkins lighting up the Flames for 402 yards and four scores, while running a bit, too.
But now he has to go up against a Louisiana team that has to gear up for a tough Sun Belt run up next against Appalachian State and Troy on the road, and Arkansas State at home.
The Ragin’ Cajun offense is fine, especially on third downs. The defense is a big problem, especially on third downs.
Can the secondary hold up against the suddenly hot Aggie passing game? No, but the ground game will go off on the leaky NMSU defensive front.
Trey Regas has been fantastic, running for 100 yards or more against everyone – including Alabama – but Mississippi State. He’ll run through the NMSU defense that has been holding teams to under four yards per carry lately – including New Mexico.
This will be more of a firefight ULL might like, but they’ll take control with the ground game late to get out alive.
