Missouri (4-4) vs. Florida (6-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why Missouri Will Win
Okay, Drew Lock. Enough. It’s time to be Drew Lock.
Awful in two of his last three games, he was a non-factor against Alabama – yeah, it’s Alabama, but Lock is supposed to have NFL franchise quarterback upside – and couldn’t put away Kentucky.
And now he has to go against the nasty Gator defense.
The offense line is giving him enough time, and the running game has been okay, but this is the time when Lock has to be the best player on the field.
The Gator secondary might be brilliant, but Lock has to be sharp, move the chains, and control the game against a defense that gave up over 600 passing yards over the last three games and five touchdowns in the last two.
Lock has done it before. Last season he hit 15-of-20 passes for 228 yards and three scores in a crisp 45-16 win in Columbia.
Do it again.
One Reason Why Florida Will Win
Feleipe Franks, if you and the Gator passing game ever wanted to open it up, this is the time to do it.
Missouri made Terry Wilson look like Patrick Mahomes over the last several minutes of the collapse to Kentucky.
The Tiger secondary has had a few issues, getting lit up for 200 yards or more in each of the last six games – failing to come through in the clutch against the Cats last week in the 15-14 loss.
Florida would love nothing more than to ground-and-pound this game and make it about the time of possession and long drives, but Franks should be able to have some success.
He doesn’t have to be brilliant. All he has to do is hit his third down throws, not force anything, and connect on 60% or so of his passes. His defense should take care of the rest.

What’s Going To Happen
Who can get over the hangover the fastest?
Both teams might be coming off of painful losses, but this is far more critical for a Missouri team that’s lost four of its last five games.
It’s hardly going to be anything pretty.
Florida will go on two tough scoring drives in the first quarter, the secondary will come up with a few key third down stops, and it’ll win the turnover battle.
Lock will come up with a few scores to keep it close, but he’ll also give away two picks to a Gator secondary that will take over the game on the ground in the second half.
