Louisiana Tech (6-2) vs. Mississippi State (5-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
The Bulldogs will win.
Louisiana Tech is on a three-game winning streak and won four of the last five games, with a defense that’s been quietly playing well to overcome an offense that’s sputtering a bit.
The Conference USA Bulldogs are great at getting behind the line – Jaylon Ferguson is tearing up offenses with 10.5 sacks so far – but this game is about stopping the run.
Louisiana Tech can be hit hard on the ground, giving up over 200 yards four times – including 218 yards and five scores in the 38-21 loss to LSU – and now it’s up to Nick Fitzgerald to go back to being Nick Fitzgerald, if he wants to.
The easiest was for Mississippi State to win is by grinding out the ground attack, with Fitzgerald as the main man as a 100-yard machine, and with 88 yards and two scores against Texas A&M last week. But the 241 passing yards and big plays got the Bulldogs the big win they needed coming off an ugly loss to LSU.
It’ll be more of a fight for the SECers than they might like.
The Louisiana Tech defense is good enough to bog this down, but the MSU defensive front should take over as the game goes on and stall an attack that can score against the UTEPs of the world, but few else.
