Kansas State (3-5) vs. TCU (3-5) Game Preview
One Reason Why Kansas State Will Win
Things aren’t exactly going well if you’re losing to Kansas
TCU is dealing with a quarterback change, the loss of some key parts, and a total absence of mojo as it’s on a run of five losses in the last six games.
It’s up to Kansas State to take advantage of that.
The big problem? Turnover margin.
The Horned Frogs actually aren’t playing all that poorly in a lot of ways, but they’re screwing up and making that one wrong play at the worst time, and they’re not able to recover.
On the year, the Horned Frogs are a -12 in turnover margin. Against FBS teams – they came up with three takeaways in the opener against Southern – TCU has forced a grand total fo three turnovers. Overall, they’re -15 over the last seven games.
For a team like Kansas State that lives on takeaways and big breaks, it’ll get them.
For all of the Wildcats’ faults, they’re not that awful when it comes to the turnover margin. They’re not good enough, but they’re a +2 vs. the FBS teams. They need to be a +2 this week.
One Reason Why TCU Will Win
Again, it’s not like TCU is all that awful in most areas.
Michael Collins filled in for the injured Shawn Robinson and was great against Kansas, throwing for 351 yards and keeping the chains moving a bit.
The run defense has been fine, the offensive line has been great, and the secondary leads the Big 12. It’s all about the turnovers and the big mistakes.
They’re even great at not getting flagged.
It’s purely a momentum thing with this team. If it get can somehow get off to a good start at home, and if there are a few positive drives early on, everything should be fine against a Kansas State team that isn’t built to crank up massive comebacks.
The Wildcats aren’t going to throw their way back into the game against this secondary.

What’s Going To Happen
TCU will bounce back and come up with a big performance at home to get its season back on track and keep bowl hopes alive.
Collins will be good, the offense will keep the chains moving time and again – K-State can’t seem to come up with a meaningful third down stop – and finally, TCU will start to look the part again.
At least for this week.
