What’s Going To Happen
Houston has hits its stride ad the right time with this trip to Navy up this week and with USF up next. But has it beaten anyone lately?
The win over Arizona is well in the rearview mirror, but the wins over East Carolina, Tulsa, and Texas Southern are no big deal. However, they offense is tuned up and humming, and now Navy has to try to keep up.
As always, the Navy running game is amazing – averaging over 300 yards per game – but it’s not controlling games like it normally does, and it’s not doing enough on defense.
With no pass rush and few plays in the backfield, offenses are getting too much time to work – Temple QB Anthony Russo threw for 300 yards last week.
The Midshipmen will dominate the time of possession – they’ll have the ball for close to 40 minutes – but Houston will score just about every chance it gets. QB D’Eriq King has been sharp. He’ll throw three touchdown passes, but it’ll be the run defense that takes over.
The Cougar have yet to allow 200 yards on the ground, and haven’t allowed 100 yards in three of the last four games. That will change, and the Midshipmen will seem like they always have the ball, but they won’t be able to slow down anything King and company want to do.
