Five Biggest Upset Alerts: Week 9

4. Washington State at Stanford

LINE: Stanford -2.5, o/u: 54

What about not having enough of an offense is so hard to understand?

Stanford has been finding ways to win without a running game, without a consistent passing game, and with a defense that’s fine, but not amazing.

Yeah, the Cardinal put up 25 points a game – okay, it does score a little bit – but most of those points came early on in the season. They were able to slip by Arizona State last week, but it was a 20-13 grind.

Granted, Washington State is way overdue for the Mike Leach Team Sanctioned Meltdown game, but at the moment, the team is playing better than anyone in the conference outside of Utah.

And Wazzu beat the Utes 28-24 a few weeks ago.

It’s up to the Cougars to set an early pace as the underdog on the road. Do that, and Stanford won’t keep up.
