LINE: Northwestern -3.5, o/u: 58.5
This doesn’t make any sense.
After all, Nebraska is winless, and Northwestern just shocked Michigan State on the road.
This might just be when the Wildcats go on their second half of the season run like they did last year, helped by the confidence of the win over Sparty, and the solid performance in the tight loss to Michigan.
The three-point spread doesn’t make NU that big a favorite. The investment public, apparently, isn’t that excited about the Cats against that winless team.
There’s no running game now under Jeremy Larkin, the pass defense is mediocre, and the D doesn’t take the ball away enough. However, Northwestern doesn’t commit penalties – it leads the nation in fewest sins – and Nebraska hasn’t seen a flag it didn’t like to take.
But the team showed a spark against Wisconsin. Adrian Martinez had a wonderful game, the receiving corps showed off its explosion, and overall, Scott Frost’s side is really, really close to finally getting that first win.
Northwestern isn’t good enough to rise up early and put this away, so can the young Huskers come through in the clutch?
