FIU (5-2) vs. WKU (1-6) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It’s the best vs. the worst in the East, with FIU up top with a 3-0 record and WKU 0-3 at the bottom of the division.
The Hilltoppers have played a slew of close games, but they just can’t win. Four of their losses were by three points each, including the 37-34 shootout with Old Dominion last week.
The scoring pop isn’t consistently there, the downfield passing game isn’t working, and the defense isn’t quite strong enough to come up with the key stops at the right times.
FIU is able to keep the chains moving thanks to an O line that’s doing just about everything right. The team doesn’t beat itself, the special teams are good enough, and the passing game is efficient.
It’s basically doing everything WKU isn’t.
The Hilltoppers will keep this relatively close for a while at home, but FIU is playing too well and too sharp. It’ll get yet another big day from QB James Morgan – he’s been terrific; exactly what the team needed – and the defense will own the third quarter to put this away.
