East Carolina (2-2) vs. Temple (2-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
East Carolina has turned into a more fun team all of a sudden.
One of the American Athletic Conference doormats over the last few seasons, it won two of its last three games, stunning North Carolina and beating an Old Dominion team that rolled Virginia Tech the week before. Even the loss to USF wasn’t bad.
Temple has been just as solid coming off the losses to Villanova and Buffalo to start the season. The offense has clicked, but the passing game still isn’t efficient. The team is getting the job done with a great pass rush and lots and lots of takeaways.
East Carolina has been stunningly amazing defensively on third downs, stuffing teams on the key plays and allowing just 26% of the chances to be converted. The biggest turnaround? The run defense hasn’t allowed a thing lately. North Carolina ran well, but that’s been it.
It’ll be a bit more of a defensive fight than it might seem, but it’ll all come down to the turnovers. East Carolina doesn’t take the ball away, and Temple does. The Owls will be a +2, converting on the mistakes to get by.
