4. Urban Meyer, Ohio State
The guy is due for a change.
The rumors are flying around people who cover the Buckeyes that 1) Meyer is exhausted after everything that happened this offseason, 2) not happy with the administration and the way everything was handled and 3) in need of a break because of his health.
Don’t scoff at the health side of this. He might have left Florida under interesting circumstances, but his burnout and health problems were the real deal.
Granted, the controversy at Ohio State and the way it went down and how he handled it all this summer was of his own doing, but combine that with the unrelenting pressure of being the football coach at this school, and it’s a whole lot for anyone.
Even a college football coaching god.
But he doesn’t have any pro ties, he’s more of a brilliant all-timer of a college coach. Only 54, he’s not getting out any time soon.
Even if he does leave the nest, it’ll likely be to either take some time off before retiring to OSU, or doing what he did after leaving Florida, recharge, and take over, say … Notre Dame in a few years.
Chance he’s the next Cleveland Browns head coach: 1%
It’ll be a fun talking point, and the Brown fan base might like it, but nah.
