Bowling Green (1-6) vs. Ohio (3-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Ohio needs a good, convincing win to not only stay alive in the MAC title chase, but to also show that it’s strong enough to belong in the discussion.
This has hardly been the big season the Bobcats were supposed to have. They’re turning the ball over too much, the pass defense has been a rumor at times, and overall, the D just can’t seem to get off the field.
But head coach Frank Solich is still around. Mike Jinks isn’t.
Bowling Green fired its head coach after a 1-6 start and following a shootout loss to Western Michigan. Carl Pelini will take over, and he has nothing to lose.
The Falcon offense has been solid, but the defense hasn’t even been close over the course of the season. You and ten friends can put up 40 points on the nation’s second-worst scoring defense – thank you, UConn – with no pressure in the backfield and no production against the run.
Ohio won’t have to do anything crazy. It’ll start running early, get QB Nathan Rourke and RB Maleek Irons going, and the nation’s worst run defense won’t be able to do much about it.
The Falcons will come up with enough points to make this a wee bit interesting, but this is a bad matchup for the new/temporary head coach.
